The reality of living in a world without Doctor Strange yet premiering is quickly coming to a close. Marvel will have the red carpet premiere of the film tomorrow in Los Angeles, and then release it in foreign markets next week, before it being released in the U.S. the week after. There has already been a heavy marketing push happening that have brought those interested in the film more chances to see the mind-bending action, some of the humor, and much more. With the film’s debut not too far off, it seemed as though the majority of the information that Marvel would want fans to know going in has already been shared.
This may not be the case however. Amid a flurry of new Doctor Strange TV spots, Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One) is making the rounds on the press tour – and has now revealed that a brand new, never before seen planet will be appearing at the end of the film.
Swinton was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live and talked about her work on Doctor Strange during her appearance, mentioning that her kids also helped in various departments while she was working on the film. She also revealed that her son worked with the art department and got to help create something brand new for the film. As it turns out, there will be a new planet featured in the finale of Doctor Strange.
My son, we had this amazing moment one day when I met him for lunch one day in the canteen and I said, ‘What did you do this morning?’ and he said, ‘Made a planet!’. It’s a planet that, I’ve now seen the movie, and it appears to great effect at the end of the movie.
The presence of a new planet is certainly an interesting inclusion in a film that seemed to largely deal with various dimensional battles and not potentially galactic ones. While there are numerous planets that have yet to be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is one large, father figure of a planet set to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with Kurt Russell playing Ego the Living Planet. This is pure speculation at this point, but Guardians is the next film to follow, so it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
Elsewhere, Marvel (via Comic Book) has continued to release more TV spots for the film, featuring previously-unreleased footage and a potential look at the final battle. Have a look, below:
With the news that a new planet is involved, is it possible that these new TV spots show glimpses of that new planet? Fans will have to wait and see the final film to figure that out for themselves.
