The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3 got off to a great start with the critically acclaimed blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, and the future should be extremely bright for the franchise. After Doctor Strange concludes 2016 for Marvel, 2017 will in all likelihood be one of the studio’s most fruitful years. It sees the premiere of three new installments, including the hotly-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, for which James Gunn returned to write and direct. Most of the cast from the first film are reprising their roles, with high-profile newcomers such as Kurt Russell and Sylvester Stallone joining the fray.
Vol. 2 was a key part of Marvel’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, where a sizzle reel of footage brought the house down. Ever since the panel, fans have been wondering when an official marketing campaign would get under way. The company line has long been that viewers should expect a teaser around the time Doctor Strange was hitting theaters. The Sorcerer Supreme makes his big screen debut in the U.S. on November 4, but reaches several foreign markets at the end of October, so it stands reason to believe a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 trailer would be here soon. And now, that seems to be the case.
According to Trailer Track, the first Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer has been classified by the BBFC. It is said to run for about 90 seconds. No release date for the teaser has been set, but with Doctor Strange opening in the U.K. on October 25, it will likely be only a matter of days.
